Van Wert County Progressives

Who We Are

Van Wert County Progressives is a grass roots organization started in Van Wert County in July 2022. The goal was to take action, get young people involved, and to take the lead on progressive community change. While the group is young, they've already committed to helping Van Wert get reproductive rights on the ballot, registered citizens to vote, and helped inform Van Wert voters about what is happening in the Ohio State House.

Vote NO on August 8th

The Ohio legislator has decided to waste $20 million in taxpayer money on a special election to try to silence the voice of Ohioans. We MUST stop this. Vote NO on State Issue 1 on Aug. 8.

What would this amendment do?

Require super majority, 60%, to pass future amendments. (It currently takes 50%.)
Require any petitions submitted to initiate a constitutional amendment to be singed by at least 5% of eligible voters in each county. (Signatures would need to be collected from all 88 counties as opposed to the current 44-county requirement.)
Specify that additional signatures can't be added to a petition submitted to the state after Jan. 1, 2024. (Right now, additional signatures can be collected during a 10-day cure period, during which amendment campaigns can submit additional signatures just in case.)
